Questions to ask when buying a used RV

Used Travel Trailers in Texas
RVs are simply amazing vehicles. The time spent in them is nothing short of fun and memorable and most of us are eagerly waiting for the time to take our rig on the next adventure.
However, RVs are also expensive vehicles. Especially if you plan to go for brand new, you may be looking at a price tag of anywhere between $50k and $100k.
Fortunately, there are used RVs for sale available in the market. But when buying used, you need to be extra careful.
Don’t forget to ask these questions before buying a used RV:

How Many Owners Have Owned This Rig?
You need to know this for a number of reasons.
For starters, the number of owners needs to be mentioned in the documentation. On the other hand, if the rig has been flipped around among multiple owners within a short period of time, it could be a sign of serious problems within the rig.
Make sure you inspect each component and employ the services of a mechanic before purchasing.

Do You Have A Maintenance Record?

Maintenance records can be the one deciding factor between buying or passing on a used RV. You could instantly find out if the transmission was replaced; if it sustained major damage; or if the drive train was fully replaced.
Every owner of the RV may have jotted down all maintenance and repairs, all you need to do is ask for these records.

Is There Any Water Damage?

Asking would help; if the seller is honest enough, he’d let you know about any water damage related repairs. However, it is a good idea to inspect for yourself. Often, it is hard to point out water damage; you might really need to dig into the wall.

Do All The Functions Work?

Again, press them and check for yourself. Turn on the engine, the generator and all lights. Check the hot water heater and water pump. Check all faucets. You don’t want to face problems with any of these while camping.

What Is The Condition Of The Rig Underneath?

This is where you really need to get your hands dirty. Lie down and inspect everything under the unit. The rig should be clean, sealed and rust free down under.
After you are done asking all these questions, take the rig for a test drive. If you are looking for used travel trailers in Texas, we can help. We have a wide collection of options, all available at highly competitive prices. Check out our used Travel Trailers for sale in Texas.
