How To Clean Your RV After A Camping Trip

The last thing you’d want to do after returning after a long RV trip is get down to cleaning. However, cleaning your RV immediately will ensure that your ride remains in good shape for future trips.

The more you delay the cleaning, the more effort it will take later. Here are certain tips that will help you clean your RV after a trip:

Unpack Everything

This may sound obvious, but may RVers still have the habit of leaving stuff like kitchenware, dirty laundry and linen inside the RV, thinking that they will deal with it later. Leaving leftover food inside the fridge is another mistake that many campers make.

If camping stuff is left inside the RV for extended durations can leave a permanent stench in the interior of you RV. So ensure that you remove all the external items from the RV as soon as possible.

Sanitize the bathroom

Although bathroom should be cleaned throughout the journey, it should be cleaned with disinfectants after a trip.

Use the chemicals or bathroom cleaners that you use for cleaning the home’s bathrooms and sanitize the bathroom. Pay special attention to the toilet to ensure that there is no residual stench left.

Wiping and Vacuuming

Wipe all the surfaces with a wet or a fiber cloth. Make extra effort on the kitchen surfaces. Once you have removed all the linens, start vacuuming the mattresses and the floors.

You should also let some fresh air in, by opening all the windows, before parking it in the storage.

Dump the Water

Don’t forget to drain the water tanks. If the water is left to sit inside the tank, it will create foul odors and deteriorate the tanks from the inside. Draining it out completely after every trip will make sure that the tank remains clean and fresh.

Cleaning the Exterior

Once you are satisfied with the interior, you may want to give a good wash to the exterior. This will help you in preserving the look of the RV and maintain its shine. It will also prevent any rusting and mold on the roof.

You could use a regular or high-pressure hose to give the entire exterior a thorough wash. If necessary, consider using a polish on the exterior at least once a year.
